Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has departed on an official visit to Saudi Arabia on the invitation of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Zameer will deliver a letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu addressed to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
During the visit, Zameer will engage in high-level discussions with Prince Faisal to review the friendship between the two countries and discuss avenues for future cooperation.
This year marked the 43rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Zameer is also scheduled to meet with other senior dignitaries of the Saudi government, as well as the Saudi Fund for Development.
He will also interact with the resident Maldivian Community in Riyadh during the visit from August 18 to 22.
Zameer is accompanied by the Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Ahmed Munawar, Ambassador-at-Large Ahmed Naseer, Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Joint Secretary Badoora Saeed and Director General Aishath Fareena.
This is Zameer's second visit to Saudi Arabia in August. He was in Jeddah on August 6 for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
He also visited Bahrain this month at the invitation of Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani.
