A delegation from Saudi Arabia's Islamic Ministry has arrived in the Maldives.

Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said the Saudi delegation is visiting to conduct a program for scholars and religious workers in collaboration with the Islamic Ministry.

Shaheem said he had discussions during a visit to Saudi Arabia to conduct academic programs in Maldives and the delegation arrived under an agreement signed after the discussions.

“The main objectives of these academic projects are to explain the true beliefs of Islam to the people as well as to educate the youth, scholars and associations in the country on the noble principles of Islamic moderation and to counter extremist views,” he said.

Shaheem said that many such social and scientific projects will be carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia in the future.
