A man was arrested last Friday on suspicion of operating a large-scale illegal liquor trade in Kaafu Maafushi.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Nabeeh Abdul Rasheed, was apprehended during a joint operation conducted by Police Narcotics Intelligence and Maafushi Police.
During a court-authorised search of the suspect's residence in Maafushi—a popular tourist destination—officers discovered and seized 42 bottles of liquor.
Police confirmed that the suspect has been remanded in custody for eight days following his court appearance.
This arrest follows a major crackdown last week targeting a large-scale alcohol network in Male', where police seized 826 bottles.
In connection with that separate case, authorities have arrested the alleged ringleader of the network along with three expatriates.
