Man launches hunger strike over authorities' failure to stop harasser

Mohamed Saeed has launched a hunger strike at a police station to protest authorities' failure to stop a drug addict's year-long harassment of residents. Despite submitting evidence and meeting with officials, Saeed claims no action was taken. He vows to continue his protest until a permanent solution is provided.

The arrest follows a hunger strike staged on Saturday by a man at a police station, demanding protection from the suspect's harassment.

Mohamed Saeed, who began his hunger strike at the Adam Haleem Building in Henveiru, told Adhadhu that he resorted to the protest after enduring 18 months without a solution to the problem.

"He suddenly throws water or oil onto the street. He takes the WAMCO traffic barriers from Sosun Magu and blocks the road to prevent access. He even shouts profanities at people walking by with small children," Saeed said.
