The Maldives' first magazine dedicated to the rich biodiversity and diverse ecosystems of the nation's marine and terrestrial environments has been officially inaugurated.

The magazine was unveiled during a special ceremony held in Fuvahmulah by Ahmed Inah, the Managing Director of Pelagic Divers Fuvahmulah. Published in English, the publication aims to promote the natural beauty, history, and culture of the Maldives to a global audience.

The magazine is a solo venture registered by Fuvahmulah-born writer Yasir Salih. Scheduled for biannual release, the publication’s content is categorized into three sections: biodiversity, fisheries, and history and culture. The cover of the inaugural issue features the iconic tiger shark, a species synonymous with the waters of Fuvahmulah.

A highlight of this publication is that it marks the first time a magazine in the Maldives has been written and published entirely by a single individual. The founder and author, Yasir Salih, is also the creator of "Maldives My Islands," a website dedicated to providing information about the Maldivian islands.

His articles integrate scientific findings with local insights and traditional Maldivian folklore.

Designed with a modern aesthetic to engage readers, the magazine presents information in concise, accessible blocks. The content is further enhanced by high-quality photography and detailed illustrations to provide clarity and visual appeal.

The publication offers comprehensive coverage of underwater landscapes, marine life, and coastal avian species, while also exploring the evolution of Maldivian fishing practices from traditional methods to contemporary techniques.

The magazine is positioned for an international market rather than being limited to a local audience. Distribution is planned for countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. This initiative is expected to serve as a resource for tourists and researchers, showcasing the Maldives' environmental wealth and cultural heritage to the world.
