A preliminary hearing for a former female employee of the President’s Office, charged with Qazf, has been scheduled for next Monday.

The Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office filed charges against the 24-year-old woman. The preliminary hearing is set to take place at 10:00 am on Monday.

The individual had previously been summoned by the police on allegations that she was the interviewee featured in the "Aisha" documentary produced by Adhadhu. However, the police denied her the opportunity to speak in her own defence. The state's decision to press charges also stems from the "Aisha" documentary case.

The former employee recently alleged that a cabinet minister within the current administration contacted her and issued threats. She further claimed that a member of the President’s family has been harassing her family in various ways.

In connection with the same documentary, the state has also charged this Adhadhu CEO, Hussain Fiyaz Moosa, and Editor, Hassan Mohamed, with Qazf. Those proceedings are currently ongoing in a closed-door trial at the Criminal Court.

The individual interviewed in the "Aisha" documentary alleged that she had an extramarital affair with President Mohamed Muizzu. Qazf is an Islamic criminal charge for falsely accusing someone of adultery.

When Adhadhu journalist Mohamed Shahuzan questioned Muizzu regarding these allegations, he was sentenced to 15 days in prison.

Additionally, Adhadhu journalist Leevan Ali Nasir was sentenced to 10 days in prison for reporting a gag order related to the case.
