The Prime Minister of Malaysia arrived in the Maldives tonight at the invitation of President Mohamed Muizzu.
This marks the first visit to the Maldives by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim since assuming office in November 2022. He is currently on a two-day official visit.
Muizzu personally welcomed Prime Minister Anwar upon his arrival at Velana International Airport.
According to the President's Office, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) across various sectors are scheduled to be signed between Malaysia and the Maldives during this visit.
Following official talks with Muizzu, Prime Minister Anwar is also scheduled to meet with Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla, and Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam.
