The government today conferred the National Awards on 11 individuals, a company, and an organization to commemorate National Day.
During the official National Day ceremony held in Haa Alif Utheemu, the National Award of Honour was presented to three individuals and one organization, while the National Award of Recognition was conferred on seven individuals and one company.
The recipients of the National Award of Honour are:
- In the field of Dhivehi Language and Literature: Mohamed Amir Ahmed (Husnuheenaage, Gaaf Dhaal Faresmaathoda)
- In the field of Construction and Architecture: Ibrahim Rasheed (Vasmeerufiya, Vaavu Fulidhoo)
- In the field of Health: Society for Health Education (SHE)
- In the field of News and Information: Najuma Hussain (Galolhu Nooreefehi)
The recipients of the National Award of Recognition are:
- In the field of Islamic Awareness, Religious Service, and Religious Education: Hawwa Latheef (Mushthareege, Gaaf Alif Dhandhoo)
- In the field of Dhivehi Language and Literature: Mohamed Naseer (Dhabuge, Haa Dhaal Vaikaradhoo)
- In the field of Maldivian History: Command Sergeant Major Abdulla Saeed (Hulhumale’ Flat 125-G-03)
- In the field of Health: Mohamed Ahmed (Hulhumale’ Vinares 10A-702)
- In the field of Construction and Architecture: Bison Maldives Private Limited
- In the field of Communication and Information Technology: Arshad Ahmed (Fahivaa, Haa Alif Uligan)
- In the field of Sports: Aishath Naura (Henveiru Seat)
- In the field of Visual Arts: Ismail Abdul Ghafoor (Henveiru Arihiya)
Additionally, a posthumous National Award of Recognition was conferred in memory of the late Ihsan Abdul Ghanee (Saanthi) for his invaluable contributions to Maldivian sports, particularly in the training and development of football players.
Widely known in the Maldivian football community as "Saanthi," Ihsan Abdul Ghanee was one of the most prominent and successful coaches in the nation's football history.
The recipients were selected by the National Awards Committee appointed by President Mohamed Muizzu. The National Award of Honour consists of a shield of honor, a badge of honor, and a commemorative certificate. The National Award of Recognition consists of a commemorative plaque and a certificate.
