The Male' City Council has passed a resolution to conduct a large-scale inspection of food service establishments across the Greater Male' area.
The motion was proposed by Hawwa Shifana, the Councillor for the Machangolhi Central constituency. She proposed that the operation be carried out in collaboration with the Maldives Police Service, the Health Protection Agency (HPA), and other relevant authorities.
"I am proposing today that the Male' City Council initiate a major operation to inspect all food service establishments in Male', Villimale', and Hulhumale', in coordination with the Health Protection Agency, Maldives Police Service, and Maldives Immigration," Shifana said.
The proposal was passed unanimously by all councillors present at the meeting.
Male' City Mayor Adam Azim noted that the council is already conducting similar inspections. However, he expressed his support for expanding the initiative to ensure a more comprehensive operation in partnership with other state agencies.
