Alia Investments, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has successfully concluded its "Boat Operators Training" program.
The initiative highlights Alia’s commitment to enhancing maritime safety, strengthening technical capacity, and advancing the development of the Maldivian maritime industry.
Held from July 14 to 16, this year’s program saw participation from 47 individuals representing various resorts, maritime service providers, and government institutions.
Over the course of the three-day training, participants received comprehensive instruction on maritime regulations, navigational safety, emergency response protocols, first aid, fire safety, and best practices in vessel operation.
The program also featured practical sessions on the maintenance and troubleshooting of Yamaha outboard engines. These sessions provided participants with the technical knowledge necessary to optimize engine performance and the hands-on experience required to respond effectively to real-world situations at sea.
Certificates were presented to all participants at a closing ceremony. This training is expected to equip boat captains with the confidence, practical expertise, and competence needed to navigate vessels safely within the evolving maritime landscape.
Alia extended its gratitude to the Maldives Institute of Technology, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), and the Maldives Police Service, as well as all participating institutions and instructors, for their support in ensuring the success of this year’s program.
As the exclusive distributor of Yamaha outboard engines in the Maldives, Alia remains dedicated to promoting maritime safety and building technical capacity. The company reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that foster the long-term sustainable growth of the nation’s maritime sector.
