Alia Investments, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has officially launched the "Boat Operators Training Program 2026" as part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety and operational efficiency within the maritime sector.
Running from July 14 to 16, the training program hosts 48 captains representing various resorts, maritime service providers, and government institutions.
This marks the 12th consecutive year that Alia has conducted this series, aimed at strengthening the technical proficiency and practical skills of vessel captains across the Maldives.
Key components of the training program include
- Maritime Regulations and Navigation: Safety protocols for navigation and transit procedures.
- Emergency Preparedness: Emergency response strategies, first aid, and fire safety.
- Practical Training: Maintenance of Yamaha outboard engines and troubleshooting technical issues.
Alia stated that the training will empower captains to make swift and effective decisions during hazardous maritime situations. The company further emphasized that this initiative is a vital part of its commitment to advancing the Maldivian maritime industry and developing the necessary human resources for the sector.
"As the exclusive distributor of Yamaha engines in the Maldives, Alia’s objective is to provide the comprehensive training and support essential for establishing a safe and robust maritime transport system," the company noted.
As the Maldivian maritime sector continues to modernize, this annual program remains instrumental in producing skilled captains who prioritize safety and professional excellence.
