Police confirmed that an individual who died in an accident on Boduthakurufaanu Magu near Dharubaaruge was crushed under a 30-ton heavy-duty lorry.
The victim of the accident, which occurred around 3:57 pm on Sunday, has been identified as 39-year-old Ibrahim Nasih. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
According to the police, preliminary findings suggest Nasih was killed after falling under a 30-ton trailer lorry travelling through the area at the time. The vehicle, owned by the construction firm RCC, was transporting a load of sand.
Police further noted that the victim does not appear to have been pulled under the lorry due to a direct collision with the vehicle. Instead, it is believed he may have slipped and fallen under it.
"Current investigations indicate that his death was caused by being crushed under the trailer lorry. However, it does not appear that he ended up under the vehicle as a result of a direct impact or collision with it," the police said.
Nasih was riding a Scoopy motorcycle at the time of the incident. A damaged helmet was found near the motorcycle; however, it remains unclear whether he was wearing it at the time.
