The Maldivian government has announced a donation of USD 50,000 in aid to support the people of Palestine.
The decision was revealed during the UNRWA Pledging Conference held at the United Nations headquarters. The funds will be channeled through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The announcement was made by Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations.
In his remarks, Dr. Naseer emphasized that supporting UNRWA is not just a financial commitment, but a vital step toward upholding human dignity and protecting a rules-based international order.
Furthermore, the Maldives highlighted the challenges and unfounded allegations currently facing UNRWA. The government called upon the international community to provide the necessary financial support to ensure the agency can continue its essential humanitarian mission.
This contribution follows a similar commitment made by the Maldives in 2024, when the government also allocated USD 50,000 to UNRWA for Palestinian relief efforts.
