Police rescue Chinese tourist found adrift a mile from resort

A police team travelling from Male' to Dhaalu Vaanee has rescued a tourist found adrift at sea.

According to the police, the rescue took place yesterday around 2:30 pm. The Chinese national was found one mile away from his resort.

Police confirmed that the tourist had gone into the water for snorkelling and was rescued without having sustained any injuries.

Authorities have not disclosed the name of the resort where the tourist was staying.

The police service has urged the public to remain vigilant while engaging in water activities to explore the Maldives' underwater beauty.

They advised swimmers and snorkellers to stay within designated areas marked by resorts or islands and to be mindful of strong currents.
