Two individuals are receiving hospital treatment after a fire broke out in a Hulhumale apartment, leaving one person with burns to his hand and another suffering from smoke inhalation.
In a message to the media, the police said that the fire occurred at Flat 110. The incident was reported at approximately 1:07 am.
"The fire was brought under control through the joint efforts of the police and members of the public," the police said.
Authorities confirmed that those injured in the blaze are still undergoing medical treatment.
"Two individuals taken to the hospital following the incident are currently being treated at Hulhumale' Hospital. This includes a man receiving treatment for burns to his hand and another person who experienced breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation," the police detailed.
The apartment where the fire originated was damaged extensively and is currently uninhabitable. The police noted that assistance is being provided to the family residing there.
"The police are investigating the cause of the incident. Furthermore, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is providing temporary shelter and other necessary assistance to the families displaced by this fire," the police added.
