Adhadhu journalist Leevan Ali Nasir has been honoured with the Dean’s Award by the Maldives National University (MNU).

Introduced for the first time this year, the Dean’s Award is presented to the highest-achieving student in each course at MNU for every semester.

Leevan received the award for securing the top marks in his Media and Public Relations course during the second semester of last year.

The award was presented to Leevan by MNU Chancellor Dr. Mahamood Shougee during a special ceremony held at the university.

In addition to Leevan, several other students from various courses at the university were also presented with the Dean’s Award.

Leevan’s academic achievement comes just a month after the Criminal Court sentenced him to four months and 24 days in prison over a news report regarding a court order.

Leevan spent 10 days in prison, while the rest of the sentence was converted into a fine.

With 12 years of experience in the field, Leevan has previously faced state-imposed penalties in connection with his journalistic work.
