Adam Naseer, who was appointed as an advisor to the President yesterday, has resigned from the position today.
The former Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage was appointed yesterday as the Special Advisor on Dhivehi Language and National Identity. The government had not officially announced his appointment to this role.
However, after local media outlets reported on the appointment today, the Government Spokesperson, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, announced Naseer's resignation on social media.
"Adam Naseer, the Special Advisor on Dhivehi Language and National Identity, has resigned from the post," Shareef stated in his post.
The spokesperson did not disclose the reason behind Naseer's resignation.
Adam Naseer previously resigned as the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage on April 14. The ministry was newly established by President Mohamed Muizzu with the objective of promoting the Dhivehi language and fostering a sense of national identity among Maldivians.
In addition to Adam Naseer, nine other ministers resigned on that same day.
