Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced that all but one Maldivian pilgrim have arrived at Arafat for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
According to Shaheem, the only pilgrim yet to reach Arafat is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Mina. However, the Minister assured that arrangements are being made to transport the individual to Arafat.
"All Maldivian pilgrims except one have entered Arafat. One pilgrim is currently admitted and receiving treatment at a hospital in Mina; God willing, they will also be brought to Arafat. Assistants from the Hajj Corporation are with the individual to provide support. Everything else is proceeding well," Shaheem said.
Adhadhu understands that the male pilgrim was hospitalized in Mina after his condition suddenly deteriorated due to a spike in blood sugar levels.
A total of 1,000 Maldivians traveled to Saudi Arabia this year to perform the sacred Hajj pilgrimage.
The number of pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia from across the globe has increased compared to last year. Statistics indicate that over 1.5 million people have traveled for Hajj from countries other than Saudi Arabia, marking an increase of approximately 11,000 pilgrims over the previous year.
