The Elections Commission (EC) has instructed all political parties to conduct their activities within the boundaries of a recent Criminal Court order. The directive was issued via an email to political parties, citing an order issued by Criminal Court Judge Muzammil Nasir.

In the email sent today, the EC highlighted that the court order explicitly states that any violation of its terms will be treated as contempt of court. The Commission urged all political parties to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to these requirements.

An official from the Elections Commission told Adhadhu that the order was forwarded to them by the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office. The official further noted that the Commission was instructed to share the order with political parties and monitor their compliance.

The Criminal Court issued the order in connection with ongoing Qazf charges filed under Section 612 of the Penal Code against Adhadhu’s CEO, Hussain Fiyaz Moosa, and Editor Hassan Mohamed. While the court has not yet made the order public, its details emerged after the Elections Commission referenced it in its communication to political parties.

According to the court order, the circulation of Adhadhu's "Aisha" documentary is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, the order bans any party from discussing the contents of the video, whether directly or indirectly. It also stipulates that making any statements regarding the parties involved in the case or the alleged victim, as well as disseminating any documents or information related to the case in any form, would constitute a violation of the court order.

The "Aisha" documentary was released by Adhadhu on March 28 this year. In the documentary, a former employee of the President's Office accused President Mohamed Muizzu of sexual misconduct. However, prior to the video's release, a government spokesperson denied all allegations when questioned on the matter.
