President Mohamed Muizzu has returned to the Maldives following a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka, conducted at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
In a post on X, Muizzu expressed confidence that the trip would further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two nations.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Sri Lanka, he emphasized his commitment to fostering close cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
During the visit, Muizzu held high-level discussions with Dissanayake and other senior government officials. These meetings culminated in the signing of seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) spanning various sectors.
The agreements signed include a pact on defense cooperation focusing on personnel training, education, and research, as well as an MoU to collaborate in the fight against terrorism.
Furthermore, the two countries signed agreements to bolster cooperation in tourism and education training. The visit also saw the signing of an MoU on the archiving of historical documents and the renewal of an agreement dedicated to youth development and training in the field of sports.
