Police raided the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) campaign hall in Gaaf Dhaal Nadellaa yesterday as part of a drug operation on the island.
Sources confirmed to Adhadhu that the raid on the PNC office was conducted following allegations that narcotics were being kept on the premises.
Police cordoned off the area surrounding the office before conducting a search. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether any drugs were discovered inside the building.
Adhadhu understands that the police operation was launched after a box containing suspected narcotics was seized from the harbor area, having been transported to the island via a vessel named "Jazeera."
Information has been received that an individual holding a political position was arrested in connection with the drug seizure. However, this remains unconfirmed as the police have not yet disclosed details.
The Maldives Police Service has not yet commented on the matter.
