The Criminal Court has issued a travel ban against Hussain Fiyaz Moosa, the CEO of Adhadhu, in connection with an ongoing police investigation into the documentary "Aisha."
According to the court order, the travel ban was imposed following intelligence reports received by the police suggesting that Fiyaz was preparing to leave the country. The intelligence report serves as the sole piece of evidence.
The travel ban is effective from today until July 26, spanning a duration of three months.
The order to prevent Fiyaz from traveling was issued while police were conducting a raid on the Adhadhu office. Authorities stated that the raid was carried out to gather evidence related to the "Aisha" documentary.
Under the court order, police decided to seize all electronic devices at the Adhadhu premises. However, legal counsel for the news outlet informed the officers conducting the raid that the seizure of these items exceeded the scope of the warrant and was unlawful.
The sudden criminal allegations against Adhadhu, nearly a month after the release of the "Aisha" documentary, escalated following a press conference at the President's Office today. During the briefing, questions were raised regarding the allegations made against President Mohamed Muizzu in the documentary.
In his response, Muizzu dismissed the claims in the documentary as absolute falsehoods and called for legal action to be taken regarding the matter.
