President Mohamed Muizzu has declared public holidays for Sunday and Monday (April 5 and 6) in connection with today's elections.
The decision was made on a request from the Elections Commission (EC).
Election Commission Deputy Chair Abduhrahman Solah told Adhadhu that more than 70 percent of the eligible voters cast their ballots.
The elections were held for nationwide local councils, Women's Development Committees (WDCs) and a referendum on merging the presidential and parliamentary elections.
