Deputy minister fired for campaigning with Siyam

The Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, Ibrahim Asim, has been sacked.

He was sacked for campaigning with Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) leader Ahmed Siyam Mohamed in Dhaalu atoll.

A government official said Asim had been sacked because he was in Rinbidhoo to welcome Siyam and to campaign for MDA candidates in the local council elections.

"PNC members were unhappy about this and complained," a person from Rinbidhoo told Adhadhu.

Asim is a member of the MDA. He was one of the most active political employees in the Islamic Ministry, according to some officials.
