The government is hiding the reality about the impact of the ongoing Middle East war because of the April 4 local council elections and referendum, Velidhoo MP Mohamed Abbas has alleged.
In a post on social media X, Abbas said the people must question the real situation facing the country, while the government plans to impoverish the people after the upcoming elections.
"People need to open their minds to the government's evil plans," he said.
Abbas said the government would change its tone after the elections and talk about the difficulties faced by the Maldives due to the war.
The Maldives has already suffered a huge loss due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. The government says it will lose between USD 85 million and USD 100 million each month the war continues.
