A recent opinion poll conducted by the Baani Center for International Policy, an independent Maldivian think tank, indicates that 62% of the voting-age population supports President Mohamed Muizzu and his government’s policies.
The survey, which was carried out between November 23 and December 1, 2025, involved calls to 9,921 individuals, resulting in 391 valid responses.
According to the Baani Center, this sample size provides a 95% confidence level with a 5% margin of error, meeting international standards for a representative survey of the country’s 274,625 eligible voters.
The findings reveal that while 62% of respondents approve of the President's performance, 21% of that group "strongly support" his policies. Conversely, 38% of those surveyed expressed disapproval, with 19% stating they "strongly disapprove" of his leadership.
The poll also highlighted a clear generational divide in the President’s popularity, showing that support is highest among older citizens.
Specifically, 67% of voters aged 55 and above support Muizzu, but this figure declines among younger demographics, reaching its lowest point of 50% among youth between the ages of 18 and 24.
Geographically, the President enjoys more significant backing in smaller island communities compared to larger cities and population hubs. His approval rating stands at 64% in smaller populations, while it drops to 58% in more densely populated areas.
The Baani Center emphasized that the survey was conducted by trained local officials using random phone number generation from telecommunications lists to ensure transparency and independence. These results offer a mid-term look at public sentiment following the 2023 presidential election, where Muizzu secured 54.04% of the vote.
