Male' Maldives: India delivered a commanding performance at the 7th Carrom World Cup, sweeping major titles across singles, doubles, team, and Swiss League events as the global tournament concluded in Malé.

With Indian athletes appearing in every singles final and securing top podium positions in nearly all categories, the nation reaffirmed its longstanding dominance in the sport.

The competition took place from December 2–6 at the Barceló Nasandhura Hotel, marking the Maldives’ return as host after 11 years, the last event being held in 2014 at Sun Island Resort.

This year’s edition brought together more than 150 players from 17 countries, creating a vibrant international atmosphere in the capital.

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed served as Chief Guest at last night’s closing ceremony, attended by senior officials from the Sports Ministry, the International Carrom Federation (ICF), and the Carrom Association of Maldives.

Women’s Singles:

Keerthana Loganathan (India) claimed the championship title after an all-India final against Kajal Kumari, who finished runner-up. Khazima Mahaboob Masha (India) secured third place after winning her playoff match against Sri Lanka’s Tasmila Kavindi.

Men’s Singles:

Prashant More (India) captured the men’s title, marking his third World Cup victory. He defeated fellow Indian finalist Srinivas Komaravelli, while Abhijit Tripankar (India) secured third place following a competitive match against Sandeep Dive, also from India.

Swiss League Results:

1st Place: Abdul Asif (India)

2nd Place: Hafizur Rahman (Bangladesh)

3rd Place: K. Srinivas (India)

India’s momentum continued in the team and doubles events, where both the men’s and women’s squads emerged victorious. Their clean sweep across multiple disciplines underscored India’s unmatched depth and expertise in international carrom.

The successful tournament highlighted the Maldives’ strong return as host and its growing role in promoting global sporting events.
