Adhadhu has learnt that none of the projects initiated by President Mohamed Muizzu earlier this month in Fuvahmulah are progressing as announced.
Muizzu laid the foundation stone for five projects on November 4. But no practical work has been done on the projects over the past 20 days.
The projects
- Establish a waste management centre
- Construct a new building for Fuvahmulah Atoll Education Centre
- Build 400 housing units
- Construct police accommodation blocks
- Establish a branch of the National Library
Adhadhu found out that the land has not been cleared for the projects to establish a branch of the National Library and establish a waste management centre.
The sites for the other three projects were empty and there were no signs of any ongoing practical work.
There were two heavy vehicles at the site to build 400 housing units, while few metal poles were set up at the site construct police accommodation blocks.
The pit dug at the site for the new building for Fuvahmulah Atoll Education Centre was flooded.
During his visit to Fuvahmulah, Muizzu assured the people that the work will be carried out swiftly to be completed soon.
Most of the development projects were awarded to private companies, while some projects have been awarded to government companies.
