Private videos of a second female opposition activist have been leaked on social media while the police held her phone with a court warrant.
Police seized the phone of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) member Fathimath Zahiyya (Zayaa) in connection with a Facebook post on October 7.
Zayaa is a member of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) National Council and the President of MDP Hulhumale' North Constituency.
The device was with the police when an anonymous X account began leaking the videos today. Two videos were posted before the account was suspended.
Zayaa told Adhadhu that this was done by the police.
"Two days before the police confiscated my phone, I got a notification because someone was trying to log in to my Snapchat... This is done by the police. This happened after they took my phone," she said.
Last week, police leaked private photos of 20-year-old activist Aishath Shimon Ahmed in the same manner through an anonymous X account, which was later suspended.
Her lawyers have now filed complaints at the National Integrity Commission (NIC) and the People's Majlis.
Meanwhile, a video of a crime scene involving children was also leaked on social media.
The video was taken when four people, including popular television presenter and sports host Nafiu Rasheed (Naape), were arrested on charges of exploiting children last week.
The video shows the suspects, two minors and two police officers at the scene. Police rules prohibit anyone from entering or leaving crime scenes. But they claim the leaked video was not recorded by a police officer.
