President Mohamed Muizzu's plan to build a park with underground parking on the old Jamaludheen School land has failed.
Muizzu's manifesto includes establishing an underground parking facility and a park on the old Jamaludheen School land. The plan was announced for the parliamentary election campaign.
The government planned to collaborate with the Male' city council for the project, But, so far, no work has been done except publicizing the designs and an inauguration ceremony.
The land remains deserted with no work underway.
Muizzu planned parking building in six locations of Male' when he was the mayor of the capital city. He blamed the former government after failing to launch the project.
"Now, hopefully, [the work] is scheduled to continue. We hope that soon, by April, work will physically begin for these buildings," Muizzu said at the swearing-in ceremony for the new mayor in January last year.
With more than 1.5 years passed since then, no parking building has been constructed in the city.
