Hulhumale' Maldives: Kings Cup 2025 final turned into a night to remember as Road Recreation Club (RRC) outclassed Club Combination Sports Club (CC) of B. Eydhafushi in a breathtaking 9–4 victory to be crowned champions.
RRC wasted no time in stamping their authority. By halftime, the scoreboard already read 4–0, with captain Ibrahim Aswadh (Gabey) leading the charge alongside goals from Ali Shamis (Thoppey), Iranian forward Mohsen Montazemi, and the ever-clinical Shanan Rashad.
CC tried to fight back early in the second half with strikes from Unais Zubair (Uney) and Ayaaz Ahmed (Ayaa), giving their fans a glimmer of hope.
But RRC were simply too powerful.
Shanan completed a stunning hat-trick, Ahmed Aflaaz bent in a free-kick, while Abdulla Yaameen (Yaanu) and Ibrahim Shareef (Ibbe) piled on more goals.
CC’s final response came through two thunderous long-range penalties by Mohamed Fasir (Faatte), but by then the game was already well beyond their reach.
The night also belonged to RRC’s goalkeeper Mohamed Lufshaan (Puff), who walked away with the King of the Final award for his commanding performance. Tournament honors were shared as well, Shanan took the Top Scorer award with eight goals, coach Ismail Shareef (Isse) earned the Master of Sultan award for best coach, and captain Gabey was named the tournament’s Best Player, lifting the Sultan Award.
The Kings Cup, launched last year as a clash between resort and club champions, was first won by Club WAMCO, who defeated Joali Maldives in the inaugural final. This year, however, WAMCO failed to register a single win in the group stage, opening the door for RRC. Despite a shaky start with a loss to Joali Maldives, RRC quickly found their momentum, dominating from their second match onward and ultimately storming into the final to claim the trophy.
