Baarashu MP and ruling People's National Congress (PNC) Vice-President Ibrahim Shujau has been removed from the parliament's Public Accounts Committee.
This comes after a report prepared by the central bank's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) was leaked on social media, accusing him of corruption and unjust enrichment.
The Public Accounts Committee has a meeting scheduled with central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), officials at 11 am today.
Guraidhoo MP Hanaan Mohamed Rasheed was appointed to replace Shujau on the committee, while the Baarashu MP was transferred to the National Development and Heritage Committee.
Shujau's cases were investigated by the MMA's Financial Intelligence Unit. Police said they were also investigating after the report was leaked on social media.
However, police did not say when they began the investigation or what action had been taken so far.
