Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka has urged Maldivian businessmen to invest in the country.
Speaking after talks between the two countries, Disanayaka said Sri Lanka is a reliable destination for Maldivian businessmen.
"Sri Lanka has always been a reliable destination for Maldivian investors. I invite Maldivians to invest in IT, AI, fisheries, agro-processing, tourism, real estate and urban infrastructure sectors," Disanayaka said.
He briefed President Mohamed Muizzu on the single window system introduced by Sri Lanka to issue permits and licenses required by businessmen.
Dissanayake also briefed Muizzu on the concessions currently available to businessmen who wish to invest in Sri Lanka.
Disanayaka is currently on a two-day state visit to the Maldives. This is his first state visit to the Maldives since assuming office in September 2024.
The Maldives established diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka on 26 July 1965 and this year commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
