A coral garden project was launched on Tuesday in the channel between Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Environmental Management and Survey Manager, Hassaan Abdul Muhsin, said efforts were underway to form a team of experts for the project.
“In order to bring more beauty to Hulhumale', HDC is carrying out this coral garden project, to plant and revive corals in Channel One, in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)," he said in a video released on Tuesday.
Under the project, corals will be planted in Channel One after ensuring that there will be no adverse consequences.
Hassaan said the project will be expanded to other areas based on the results of the coal garden in Channel One.
The HDC had previously worked to develop the Channel One area as a park. However, the work is currently on hold.
