Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) advisor Idham Hussain has been dismissed from the central bank's board.

MMA has not made an official announcement, but reliable sources confirmed her dismissal to Adhadhu. MMA media official asked Adhadhu to send a message for a comment, but did not respond by the time of publishing.

Idham is the fourth member to have left the MMA board this year. This number rises to six, including 2024.

Idham is a senior employee in MMA who has served the authority for 35 years. Despite her dismissal from the board, she remains an advisor to the bank.

She was appointed as an advisor following the abolition of the assistant governor post after the change in the administrative structure of MMA.

Before being appointed advisor, she served as the assistant governor.

Reliable sources told Adhadhu that Mariyam Rashfa has been appointed to the board to replace Idham. She is the acting managing director of the MMA's monetary policy, economics and statistics department.
