The Criminal Court today decided to take the testimony of four defence witnesses presented by Ibrahim Faih Nizam, accused of stabbing Ahmed Mohamed Didi (Naushad) to death inside a shop in Male'.
The court ruled against the prosecution's motion to dismiss the defence witnesses.
The defence witnesses were submitted to prove that Faih was not at the scene of the crime. He submitted five people as defence witnesses. The court decided to reject one of the witnesses due to a lack of information.
Judge Ibrahim Ihsan said the next hearing would be held in 15 days and that he intends to continue the trial without interruption.
Faih and Siruhan Ali are charged with murder with intent to kill using a sharp object. Both men have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Naushad was stabbed inside the Krasa store on February 24, 2023, at 9:30 am. He died three days later while being treated for his injuries.
Faih was arrested after he went on the run for more than a month and surrendered to police. Two people were also charged with allegedly helping him hide from authorities.
Police said Naushad was killed in revenge during a series of fights between two gangs Male'.
