The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Kong Xianhua, has presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
A special ceremony was held at the President's Office this morning. Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel. government officials and Chinese embassy officials attended the ceremony.
The President's Office said the new ambassador held talks with the President after presenting his credentials. During the talks, the President and the Ambassador discussed strengthening bilateral relations and China's assistance to the Maldives.
Kong also met with minister Khaleel to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.
China appoints ambassadors for a three-year term. Wang Lixin, the former Chinese ambassador to the Maldives, returned home in December.
Kong previously served as China's Counselor General in Mumbai for three years
