The Tourism Ministry has stopped publishing its monthly detailed report on tourism in the Maldives.
The monthly reports have been published since 2009. These reports are still available on the ministry's website. The ministry last released its detailed report in December 2024. No monthly reports have been released this year.
The ministry has not yet disclosed the reason for stopping the monthly reports. Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim could not be reached for comment.
The ministry now publishes daily tourism reports. These reports are not issued every day, but they are usually released at least a couple of times a week. Some of the details contained in the monthly report are not included in the daily reports.
The monthly reports show the number of tourists visiting from each country, the number of tourist facilities registered and in operation, occupancy rates and the number of tourists arriving at the airports. These details are not available this year.
The ministry has also not released the number of tourists from countries apart from the top 10 source markets this year.
