President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said the difficulties faced by students in getting responses from the Higher Education Ministry will be solved in the future.
Students have been complaining about lack of response from the ministry to their letters and emails about loans and other matters while studying overseas.
During his visit to the UK, Muizzu met with Maldivian students studying in the country and said complaints about the ministry have reached him.
"These are problems within the system. We will hopefully fix them and make it more efficient. We will ensure quick response and on-time deposit of the loan money," he said.
Muizzu said he understands the hardships students would face due to the government's failure to respond and delays in receiving their loan disbursements.
"Not just in the UK. I will hopefully pay equal attention to all students in all countries," he said.
Hithadhoo Central MP Ahmed Azaan has formally questioned Higher Education Minister Ali Haidar regarding the difficulties and challenges faced by students and their parents.
After the complaints began circulating on social media, Muizzu abolished the one percent administration fee on student loans on March 28.
