Power cuts have resumed in Addu city's Hithadhoo and the adjoining areas during the fasting month of Ramadan.
The state-owned electricity company Fenaka said earlier that the electricity problem in Addu would be resolved for Ramadan.
On February 17, Fenaka said a 1.8 MW generator set is being delivered under an agreement with State Electric Company (STELCO) while damaged generators were also being fixed.
However, the electricity problem has not been resolved, and residents of Addu and their MPs have begun expressing concern on social media.
Hithadhoo Central MP Ahmed Azaan, who is currently isolated from the ruling People's National Congress (PNC), said there is no reason why the generators should not be brought to produce enough electricity for Addu.
Addu Mayor Ali Nizar told Adhadhu that the power outage started after the three fixed generators began facing issues again.
"There is nothing Fenaka can say anymore. We don't even trust what they say. We don't even want to listen to what Fenaka says," he said.
Addu, the second most populous city in the Maldives, has been facing frequent power outages since early last year. The government has given various deadlines to resolve the issue.
