About a dozen foreigners held at the Immigration Detention Center in Hulhumale' Phase 2 have been admitted to the Hulhumale' Hospital for food poisoning.
The hospital's Information Officer Abdulla Mauroof told Adhadhu that 13 foreigners were brought from the detention center for medical treatment.
He said all of them are being treated in the emergency room and declined to provide further details.
"Thirteen people are being treated at the ER. They were all foreigners. At this time, we cannot say they had food poisoning," he said on Saturday night.
He added that a team of doctors and nurses from the Hulhumale' Hospital had gone to the Immigration Detention Centre.
Police said they were at the scene but did not give any further details.
