A large delegation from Maldives, including senior government officials, attended the World Government Summit in Dubai this month despite instructions to implement cost-cutting measures.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef was the most senior official representing the government at the summit. Adhadhu understands that more than 50 state officials travelled to the summit.
They include ministers, senior officials of the President's Office and heads of independent institutions. A photograph released by the President's Office shows more than 40 officials who attended the summit.

Deputy Ministers, State Ministers, senior officials and some employees of various ministries were also members of the delegation.
The summit, attended by leaders and senior officials from countries around the world, is held to enhance cooperation among regional countries, international organizations and individuals to find solutions to challenges.
The President's Office only disclosed information about Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef attending the summit and did not specify whether a delegation would accompany him.
According to the President's Office, the Vice President left Dubai for Maldives three days after the summit concluded. Details of the government's expenditure on the trip are expected to be announced within 15 days.
