The new Ambassador of Japan and the new High Commissioner of the United Kingdom (UK) have presented their credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The Ambassador and High Commissioner were escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession called Haiykolhu with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) band.
Their letters of credence were presented to the President at separate ceremonies held this morning at the President's Office.
The new Ambassador of Japan is Ishigami Rumiko. She met Muizzu after the ceremony and discussed potential areas for collaboration, including disaster management assistance and renewable energy.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Japan were established on November 14 1967.
Nicholas David Low met President Muizzu at the President's Office.
The new High Commissioner of the UK is Nicholas David Low. After the ceremony, he met with Muizzu to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and other mutual interests, including advancing higher education cooperation and tourism.
Diplomatic Relations between the Maldives and the UK were established on July 26 1965.
