Agriculture Minister Rameela resigns due to health reasons

Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare Dr. Aishath Rameela has resigned due to health reasons.

In a press release, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu thanked Rameela for her support and appreciated her honest and astute valuable services.

In November 2023, Rameela travelled abroad for treatment after being diagnosed with cancer. She returned to work in early February this year.

Rameela has previously served as Minister of State for Health and Minister of State for Health and Family.

She commenced her service to the Maldivian government in 1990 as a nurse. She completed her PhD in Social Sciences in Malaysia in 2010.
