Government officials are taking part in the draw on behalf of those who received land in Gulhifalhu under the Binveriya housing scheme.

The former government had completed the draw and handed over the registration of land plots from Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu for the recipients of land. However, the current administration changed the land use plan for the islands and announced a new draw.

The draw began today at Dharubaaruge convention centre. The pieces of paper with the plot numbers are placed inside a glass box and a government official is picking for the recipients of land.

Some people who were at Dharubaaruge expressed their dissatisfaction as the government did not previously announce that a government official would be picking on their behalf.

But officials say there will be no problem with the draw and that it will be broadcast live on Public Service Media (PSM).

The land use plan of the Gulhifalhu was changed three times by this government. The latest change was made yesterday just 24 hours before the draw.

Under the Binverya scheme, 9,003 plots were allocated to the natives of Male'. The land is allocated in Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu. These are 1351 plots in Hulhumale', 2219 plots in Gulhifalhi and 5433 plots in Giraavarufalhu.
