Ibrahim Nooruddin was removed from the board of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) on Thursday.

He was dismissed by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB). Nooruddin has been a board member of MACL since March 2019.

The reason for his dismissal is unclear. MACL and PCB could not be reached for comment.

While Nooruddin has been removed from the MACL board, former board member Mohamed Umar Manik (MU Manik) resigned in February.

Sources told Adhadhu that MU Manik decided to resign after 10 years because the management was trying to act against rules and trying to recruit some employees who were previously sacked.

Before being appointed to the board in 2019, Nooruddin served on the board of the airport company from 2005 to 2008 during the government of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. He was also the Chairman of the Board from 2008 to 2010 during the administration of former President Mohamed Nasheed.

Nooruddin is also a board member of Addu International Airport Private Limited. He represents Kasa Holdings Pvt. Ltd. on the board. Kasa Holdings is the operator of the Meerufenfushi Resort. The Seagull Group companies are also operated under Kasa Holdings. He also serves on the board of Maldives Inflight Catering.

Nooruddin is a director of Crown and Champa Resorts. He sits on the board of the Tree Top Hospital which is operated under Crown and serves on the board of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI).
