Protestors gathered near the Parliament today over the government's decision to ban vapes in the Maldives.
People who participated in the protest called on the government to regulate the use of vapes instead of criminalizing it.
They expressed concern over the effects on small businesses because of the sudden decision.
Meanwhile, all registered vape and vape flavour shops in Male' have been closed indefinitely to strike against the ban.

The import of vaping devices and their components will be banned from November 15 and the use, possession, manufacture, sale, advertising and distribution of vaping devices will be banned from December 15.
The decision was announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu last week.
Vape traders have been expressing concern and dissatisfaction with the government's failure to consult before making such a sudden decision.
Public opinion has also been divided. Some people support the decision, while others slammed the government for a "hidden agenda."
Meanwhile, the government has decided to increase duties on tobacco products.
