The monumental Sinamale' Bridge Park, developed under China's free aid, opened to the public on Saturday.

The park was opened by Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin and Construction Minister Abdullah Muththalib.

Photos and information related to the construction of the bridge have also been displayed in the monumental area.

Muththalib told the state broadcaster PSM that the government had developed the site as a museum park in collaboration with the Chinese government.

Wan Lixin said the Sinamale' Bridge has brought many improvements to the Maldives and changed the mindset of the people.

China Communications Construction Company Second Harbor Engineering Company Limited (CCCC SHEC) has been awarded the contract for the maintenance of the bridge that connects Male' and Hulhule'.

The project will cost USD 3.6 million and will take three years to complete.
