The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has still not submitted a case against Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla to the Prosecutor General's (PG) office.
A source told Adhadhu last month that the investigation has concluded into Abdul Raheem's purchase of two flats in the Rehendhi-6 building.
But Public Prosecutor Ahmed Shafeeu said the ACC had not submitted the case to the PG office.
Sources confirmed to Adhadhu that the ACC has completed its investigation and is now in the process of deciding whether to raise charges.
Adhadhu repeatedly contacted the ACC on the matter but the anti-corruption watchdog was not responding.
"The investigation into the case has been completed. It has been a while since the investigation was completed. But it has been stalled at the stage of deciding to raise charges," the source said.
Abdul Raheem bought the two flats for around MVR 9 million. It surfaced after a letter from the previous owner of the flats emerged on social media.
The letter was regarding the registration of the flats. Abdul Raheem spent MVR 4.5 million for each of the flats.
It was earlier decided that there was no corruption in the purchase. But the ACC decided to re-examine the case in 2020 because of questionable circumstances.
