Bangladeshi man arrested for stealing MVR 442,275 from under bike seat

A Bangladeshi man has been arrested for allegedly stealing MVR 442,275 from under the seat of a motorcycle.

Jahangir Alam, 45, of Bangladesh, was arrested on Thursday with a court warrant, police said.

The Criminal Court on Friday remanded him in custody for 15 days.

According to the court order, the police have submitted some evidence, including the victim's statement, CCTV footage and snapshots.

Police said further investigations were underway.

Police, immigration and other relevant agencies are currently conducting a major operation against illegal immigrants.
